How To Choose A Green Air Purifier
Before I purchased an air purifier I was literally going through several packets of Benadryl a week. Working from my bedroom meant that I was always in range of the allergy causing dust mites!
When I bought my first air purifier, I did not really give much consideration to how eco friendly it was. I just wanted the purifier to remove the dust mite allergens from the air.
However recently I bought a new air purifier and did some research into how green it could be.
If you are looking to buy a green friendly air purifier then take note of the following 5 tips:
1. Look For An Ionizer
Try and choose a purifier with an ionizer function. An ionizer will attract dust, allergens and dirt using charged particles. This type of purifier will not need replacement filters so you will just need to wipe it down every few days.
2. Reuse HEPA Filters
If you need a HEPA filter then choose a type that can be reused. Reusable filters can be cleaned with a vacuum or just rinsed under the tap.
3. Portable versus Whole House
Choose a portable air purifier over a whole house air purifier. Why waste the electricity of cleaning your whole house when you only spend most of your time in one room anyway. Portable air purifiers have also be shown to be more efficient.
4. Sleep Mode
Try and use an air purifier that includes a sleep mode. The sleep mode will save electricity when the unit is used whilst you sleep. It will also be far quieter at night so you will sleep better.
5. Look at Efficiency Ratings
Read reviews to find the most efficient purifier that you can afford. This will mean that you can run the purifier less and therefore save electricity.
I think its worth noting that you should be following most of these tips for all types of home appliances. There is nothing worse than having a washing machine that needs to be on extra hot to work properly or a vacuum cleaner that takes hours to clean up. The best way to find which air purifier is most efficient it to read air purifier reviews at a couple of trusted websites.
