The Living Green Mantra: Reduce Reuse Recycle
Today, almost everyone is aware of the need to recycle and there are new and interesting ways to reduce, reuse and recycle being advertised or promoted.
As we move into the future, the importance of the mantra “Reduce Reuse Recycle” cannot be stressed enough. Global warming and environmental protection have now become household terms, and so it is crucial that “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” also becomes a part of every home. From computer monitor recycling, to paper only bins, every but is as important as the next.
To ‘Reduce’ means to find different means to decrease the quantity of garbage that finds its way into our landfills. We are now finding ourselves running out of space on the planet to store our trash, and so reducing the amount of garbage we throw will give us much more space to grow trees and will help preserve our environment.
By ‘Reuse’ we mean finding methods to use things repeatedly instead of throwing them away and buying new things. Reusing objects will not only save us precious landfill space, but help save many of the natural resources that are fast running out. There are many objects that are easy to reuse; these includes cans, bottles and paper. Stopping to make a list of different reusable items in ones household is a great way to save the planet.
The term ‘Recycle’ literally means to convert something that is old into something new. It is a bit like magic actually, and by recycling an old soda can or old newspapers, we can get something new out of it like glass art and designer gift paper. Everyone can recycle, which is a fun and easy way to make the earth a better place. The process of recycling saves a lot of energy, landfill space, money and helps us preserve natural resources.
