Worst Recycling Slogans

As promised, here are some ‘not so good’ recycling slogans. Now please bear in mind, these are a matter of opinion, and in my british minded, humble opinion i think these are lacking charisma and ‘tude.
Really bad slogans can end up making someone throw recyclables into the bin just out of spite. So how can a recycling slogan go wrong, i hear you ask? I believe it’s when they end up sounding condescending. The creative behind the slogan might have been going for funny but the humour fell a little flat. Also, you may see a trend in the ones i’ve picked out, something that irrates me for some reason is the whole “green” thing…..what do they really mean, when they say, “go green?” Shouldn’t they just stick with something more straightforward, like “recycle?”
Anyway, here goes…my alternative to the best recycling slogans…
- Be Green or You’re Mean. What in the world does this even mean? I know many mean people who recycle. Therefore, while this might work at an elementary school, I am not sure if it will work anywhere else.
- Be Seen Being Green.
- Every Day is Earth Day. Okay, this one sounds a little preachy to me. Is the author insinuating that I only recycle one day out of a year?
- Go Green. Comes across militant. The real problem with the “green” is that it is so foggy sounding. Let us just stick to recycling. What does it mean to “green” something?.
- Go Green for Life. Comes off even more militant.
- Your mom told me to recycle, last night.
- Gotta Dream Green
- Green is the New Black
- It’s easy being green. This slogan assumes a target population over 40 years old to remember whom Kermit is and what he used to say. Then the “green” part is still insipid. Why not just stick with “recycle.”
- Keep Your Earth Clean and Green
- Recycle or Die. This one makes me want to mix my glass and paper along with my regular trash just to see what happens.
- Recycle, Duh. Unless somebody from The Simpsons is accompanying this message, it just does not work for me.
- Recycle, It’s your Future
- Recycle. Everybody’s Doing it. I do not like how this slogan is trying to bully me into recycling.
- Save paper, save trees, save the planet. If this slogan had just stopped at “Save paper,” it would have worked well. However, going into the “save trees,” yes, I know that and then the “save the planet” part comes across wacky.
- Save the Earth
- Save the trees! But what are you supposed to do when you see this slogan? Tree huggers need to unite and come up with slogans that compel people to act.
- Show your love for Mother Earth.
- Smells like green spirit. Again, I normally love puns but this one has that word, “green” which just really bugs me.
- Support Your Local Planet, recycle.
- There is no Planet B. I almost like this one because puns are funny but it still comes across condescending.
- Think Globally. Act Locally. I get that this is some kind of eco message but not sure what it means for me to do.
- Think Green
So there you have it….. I’d love to hear some of the recycling slogans that you came across that made you laugh or cringe!
